My Chiang Mai!

My first official blog comment was about Schumacher's Chiang Mai Dragon fabric. I had just ordered it to have throw pillows made for my bedroom. I knew Courtney over at Style Court would love it, so I suggested it for a headboard project she was planning. It is truly one of the most beautiful fabrics I've seen.

Chair available at Hudson, a very chic home decor store in Boston

From Domino, another great use of this beautiful fabric

From O at Home, love that lamp!

I've noticed a few blogs knocking Pottery Barn recently, so I couldn't wait to check out their catalog and investigate myself. To my horror, I opened to page 26 and discovered this..........

.....looks very familiar doesn't it??!! Way too similar to my beloved Chiang Mai!!! They basically replaced the dragon with a bird! It was like seeing a knock-off of that coveted Chanel bag you waited months to get.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a retail snob. I mix my Marc Jacobs with my H&M. But for some reason, this depresses me! I guess I can take pride in the fact that I know and have the "original." Sniff, sniff....

I think the Chiang is still more exotic, more 1920s and has wilder colors. You're safe :)

Pottery Barn's version literally pales in comparison. I love O's version on the white framed chairs.

I take it all back, it is night and day. :)

Hill Country House just bought those pillows and a zebra pillow with it and I have to tell you, for a quick fix, it's not bad at all! I'm thinking about doing for a few months myself. Love the blog!!!

I saw your blog about the Chiang Mai fabric. I'm not in the trade, but would like to purchase this specific fabric to reuphoster my dining chairs. Any suggestions of where I can purchase this fabric? Thank you! cindysh@gmail.com

I have 2 throw of the alabaster chiang pillows on my couch and would like to add a few more throw pillows. Any suggestions for a coordinating fabric?
